First time Buyers with Shelter
Mortgage Fixed has clients right across the UK so it was important to us that we supported a national charity and we know how important a home is to each and every person.
For every First Time Buyer that completes a mortgage with us, we donate in their name to Shelter to help provide toys for children through their Homestarter kits.
When people donate homeware and furniture to the shops, Shelter use some of it to create Homestarter kits.
They give these kits to people who have recently experienced homelessness and need to make their new home safe, secure and comfortable. Toys are an important part of any child’s home and Shelter’s Homestarter kit initiative sends toys out to some of the families they help.
After all, a home is about more than just a roof over your head – it’s a place to make memories.
Green Mortgages with Ecologi
For every Green Mortgage that completes, we plant 20 new trees in their name through Ecologi.
Well, Forest restoration and reforestation are well-known climate solutions because of trees’ ability to absorb carbon from the atmosphere and store it in their biomass.
This carbon absorption ability is entirely natural, and far exceeds the efficiency of any man made carbon removal tech that currently exists.
As well as carbon sequestration though, planting trees is a wonderful thing to do for a number of other reasons:
Trees provide habitat, shade, shelter, and food for local wildlife. Planting trees therefore supports biodiversity and helps to prevent species loss.
Trees can provide products that local people can use and sell – like fruits and nuts – without harming the trees themselves.
Degraded soil increases the risk of landslides and desertification, and the roots of trees help to stabilise the soil and minimise this risk for local communities.
Trees can help to purify air and water sources, providing better health outcomes for local communities.
Coastal tree species like mangroves provide excellent natural barriers which protect the shoreline from storms.
Trees make us feel better: research suggests they have a positive impact on our mental health.
